| Wonderful Staff

By user-5792361... on 2017-10-23.

Our truck experienced engine trouble as we were heading south through West Virginia. We spent one night in the Lowe's parking lot in Nitros and decided to find a campground to put in at to seek repairs. We called ahead, but did not follow the directions they gave us and our mapping software brought us through the mountain pass. This was our very first trip with our 25 foot TT. YIKES! Switchbacks and hairpins on a narrow road. Stay on 52 from Bluefield until those train tracks, then turn right. The staff went out of their way to help us get settled for the night and worked with us when we needed to leave our departure open ended. The small store has typical convenience items along with supplies for RVs that are reasonably priced. The shower house was clean. There is a babbling mountain brook that we backed up to. It was a stressful maiden voyage, but the resort helped by being so accommodating.

| Big Rig Warning crossing Rail Road Tracks

The resort is extremely nice and well designed but made up of mostly camper cabins with a limited number of RV sites most which a fairly level with good WIFI and electric water and sewer. 2 Problems is they don't allow for complete clean up of your ATV/UTV by limiting you only to flush and clean the radiator at their designated location. The second biggest problem and warning for those with large 5th wheels and toy haulers and Big Rigs 40ft + is crossing the rail road off of hwy 52 onto the approach road to the campground. Our 45ft RV go stuck high center on top of the tracks only to have a train approaching and the crossing guards come down on the roof of the RV and forcing us to power thru at all cost and tearing off part of the exhaust, and then drag the trailer hitch across the pavement. Our neighbor parked 2 sites down with their 5th wheel 42ft also experienced the same problem crossing the rail road tracks with damage to both of their rear leveling jacks getting bent. There is a back way end to the CG but anything over 40ft should give careful review the switch backs with a climbing and descending turn causing the rear and front to bottom out on the pavement.

| It is a nice campground for the purpose of trail riding.

If you are coming from the South as suggested, the sharp right at the railroad tracks will need your attention. The road you are on is a sort of blind to oncoming traffic so it’s not really safe to cross the middle line to swing it wide. I had a class a with toad and couldn’t quite make the turn. There is a gravel parking lot just past that I pulled into and unhooked. You can make it if no traffic but.... We had no problem in a 37’ actually crossing the tracks though as others have warned. The road from the track to the park is definitely narrow so you don’t want to drop a tire off. Caution meeting others in narrrow turns. Staff is super friendly. We had one of the pull thrus and no issues. I do wish they allowed or offered a place to fully clean atvs. Spots can be a little foot traffic muddy so put out your door rugs. It really is a great spot between two of the large trail sections. I probably wouldn’t stay here if I wasn’t going to ride the trails although it literally is in the middle of no place which is nice sometimes. The little shop is well stocked with some food, tools, and gear.
