Surrounded by federal property this newly opened campground offers full hookups, cabins and tent sites on the Blue Ridge Parkway. They share an entrance with a Park Ranger Office which is gravel. Interior roads are semi-gravel and soil. Most RV sites are dirt and need to be filled with gravel. Our Chinook made tire marks into the soil indicating soft or wet soil. Sewer hookup/pvc pipe, was taller than normal but it worked just fine. No cable TV but antenna reception OTA was very good. They have small cabins and tent sites too. Big rigs may not feel comfortable with soft interior roads and sites. I hope they make the upgrades expected from today's travelers soon. If so, they'll have a hit.
Right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, this gem of a place is the most picturesque campground nestled in the hills! Beautifully manicured grounds with short little hikes in the woods and orchards. The new owners have made the place wonderful. I felt like I had showered in their own home because the bathhouse was so updated and spotless! Owners were very friendly and fun to converse with. Highly recommended and would stay again.
I'm reluctant to add all the positive aspects of this great little place because it might become too popular? Friendly, helpful hosts, nice sites, pretty good size, the nicest bath houses I've experienced on my nearly 3 month trip to Alaska leaving from FL returning to NC. (Bathhouses are individual bathrooms.) 5 of them. And a beautiful setting. Superb way to end my long journey home. Might have to come back and use this as a base camp for a blue ridge parkway adventure. Thanks Dave and Denise, great job building this little park.
Fancy Gap Cabins and Campground is the place to stay and play on on the Blue Ridge Parkway. You can unplug, relax and refresh with friends and family in one of our 13 full hook-up RV sites, 6 one-room camping cabins, 5 tent sites or 8 motel rooms. We are close to Mabry Mill, the Blue Ridge Music Center and all of the hiking, paddling, wineries, shopping and history the Blue Ridge Parkway and southwest Virginia have to offer.
