Really nice spot right next to an amazing beach
By user-5254174... on 2017-10-23.
This state park is pretty huge with tons of RV and tent sites… and for good reason. It is a short walk down to Harris beach which is amazing on its own but which every night hosts some of the greatest beach sunsets ever seen!
The facilities are great (we loved the free showers after a day at the beach), the sites are all in trees with bushes around to try and give you a little privacy, and many have their own little lawn of grass.
The playground in the middle of camp is phenomenal for kids and during school season it was pretty much empty.
Most of the park rangers we interacted with were fairly grumpy, but that's a small price to pay for the facilities and spectacular colors you can see every night.
No Wi-Fi as with most state campgrounds but great cell service.

Not all the amenities shown
By user-5994654... on 2017-10-23.
Don't be fooled by all the amenities that are shown, it don't have them all, only a few of the sites have cable, no wi-fi, there's no laundry or restaurant either but it is a short distance to town, there is access to the ocean you can drive down or take the trails, the campsites are small and are compact, most of the sites have gravel and not the grass that it shows, however it is kind of nice with lots of trees and hedges in between you and your neighbor (see pics)

Very nice campground. Loved the privacy hedges between sites. Ocean view and great beach access. People were not real friendly though. They were doing maintenance and turned off park power without telling us until we asked why we lost power.

Gorgeous!
By user-5846870... on 2017-10-23.
We arrived early in March and we're able to get one of the sites with an ocean view. Also, the site had cable hook up as well. Beautiful view and plenty of hikes with access to the beach and some pretty cool tide pools. If you are without a car, the have a dial a ride service that will pick you up and take you back to the entrance to the park. Cost is $2 each way. If you would like to see more of this park, visit my youtube video. Rving women!

This park is in the forest right near the ocean 2 miles north of Brookings. There are full hook up sites, and as a matter of fact there are some with Cable TV (good luck getting one, though). We enjoyed this park as we have all Oregon State Parks we have visited

Tow car
By user-6053761... on 2017-10-23.
They charge me an extra $15 for my Smart tow car because it was not hooked up to blue ox tow bar. They told me if I hooked it back up they would not charge me. NOT HAPPY!!!

Great place for all

The tent camp sites vary in sizes and layouts. some are better then others. The rv sites seem the same way. The grounds seemed very well kept and the only complaint were the rangers who criticized our parking job when we just had to pee so badly and we were literally only 3 inches off the pavement. We hadn't even had a chance to unload or anything. The place was crowded so I'm sure she was just trying to be on top of things the best she could. Some bathroom facilities were cleaner then others. Disappointed that there wasn't a dog off leash area but no big deal. Wildlife was very well considered and the views were amazing and worth it. Great for family gatherings and romantic stays.

Under construction

A whole lot of construction going on as of Feb 2018. A & B loops are closed. C loop is reservations first which means basically reservation only. D loop is 1st come, 1st served, it's right on the highway & I do mean right on. So its pretty noisy. But! Otherwise it's beautiful, beach is wonderful (do drive down if you're old & lazy like me, it's a steep hike back up) campsites are very nice, trees, privacy, clean bathrooms, all good!

This is a beautiful campground February 2018 - in the process of renovation of loops A and B and are developing steps down to the pristine beautiful beaches. Oregon is beautiful... Showers are hot, place is clean. We paid $32 per night, full hookups. Loop A has ocean views. No wifi but Verizon wireless has stellar 4G service here.

Beautiful area
By user-6278244... on 2018-03-14.
Lots of sites closed because of construction but plenty of sites open at 5pm. It is end of February. No construction activity today, Saturday. I took tent site because I am self-contained so only $20 but full service sites were open as well

After 2 days on the road the facilities at this campground were SO nice! If you can stay in A or C loop you'll have a better chance at views of the ocean and less traffic noise from the highway. Avoid loop D if possible. Quite noisy. Highway traffic and inconsiderate neighbors blasting music at 9 pm. Staff was quite nice and helpful, hot and free showers. Great proximity to the beach.

Amazing deal in a great coastal state park

Stayed 2018-10-20 to 2018-10-22
We loved this park! That sums it up pretty well. This state park is as nice as any private park (nicer than some we've stayed at) and is a short walk from some of the prettiest Oregon coast/beach. Brookings is close for resupply and Gold beach (mouth of the Rogue River) is within 30 miles up the coast. Highly recommend this park!

Beautiful view, well-maintained

We cannot think of anything wrong with this park except that it is on the busier side for a state park in winter, probably because of the incredible views! Reservations are recommended; first come first served sites are available 1 night only so if you want the same site for more than 1 night you need to reserve it. Aim for a site along the ocean side of the A loop for best views. There are many sites in A loop that can accommodate large RVs. Camp hosts were very active in the park and friendly. We had trouble making phone reservations and the guy on the phone (central reservation number) didn't seem to understand the size of site we needed for a 35' 5th wheel; we ended up using the reservation website which was easier and allows you to view photos of the sites. There is an $8 reservation fee per site you reserve. It is a short (somewhat steep) walk to the beach, or you can walk along a path overlooking the ocean which is more level. At low tide you can view tidepools at the beach. Very relaxing place to spend time; we plan to return!
