Stayed 1 night. Could stay longer
By user-6257520... on 2017-10-23.
County park ajoining Mississippi river. Deep gravel drive sites surrounded by grass and view of river. Pull in and choose site and register when office is open or talk to camp host. $16 senior with electricity and water. Great price. Cheaper on river without power. Drove past it first time. Sign is on side opposite river.
Stayed in a 5th wheel.

We really enjoyed our night and would have enjoyed staying longer if we had the time. Big sites!

We always enjoy staying here.

This campground is bounded by the tailwaters of Lock and Dam 14 on the Mississippi River and a railroad track. While camping here you'll see barges and recreational craft going up and down the river, hear navigation horns, and a very occasional train. The Great River Bicycle Trail runs through the park if you pack your bikes. Easy to get to from Interstate 80.
All back-in locations with water, electricity, and free wireless internet. You pay a $5.00 deposit for a showerhouse key and it is refunded when you return it. All sites are first-come first-serve. Great view of the river.

Spacious campground
By user-5587266... on 2017-10-23.
Much improved from a few years ago. Nice playground, lots of open space. Campground buts up to Mississippi River. Riverfront sites are tent only. Good fishing from the bank. I'm told there is one train per day that uses adjoining tracks, but I never saw it. One of my family's favorite local campgrounds.

Very Good Campsite

You can't ask for a better location. Lots of shade trees, right next to Mississippi River. Sites are large and well maintained. Campground is right next to railroad tracks, but I only remember a couple trains come through and they were slow and didn't make much noise.
They don't take reservations, but they have lots of sites. Office hours are limited, so we got to the campground, set up, then when the office opened up later went to check in.

Great county park. Nice level concrete pads. Water and electric for a reasonable rate. Dump station could have been nicer. You must ask for a key to use the bathroom facilities.
Nice access to local bike path.
Easy access point to see the sites in the area. Wish we would have had time to explore the park across the street.

Nice smallish park along river and across from forest preserve.
Noise was my issue. Other than that no issue; quite affordable and nice. Park, trails, etc.
