Enjoyed our overnight stay

Very conveniently located off I80. Park neat and clean, staff kind and helpful. We're able to get a pull thru last minute when the state park was full. Need work on several low spots that were muddy after a rain.

I enjoy going to this park every year. The owners are very nice and helpful. Had forgotten an item for cooking. They let us borrow theirs. The only negative is that the creek that runs through the campground at times overflows. Nothing that the park has control over.

Not our best experience at a KOA

Sites were pretty close together. As people came in they were put right next to each other. There were lots of open spaces so they could have at least done every other space. They also put people right behind each other. It felt crowded.
Electric and water hookup was $42. Sites were mostly tandem pull-throughs. Facilities were clean. Dump station was a bit tricky to use.
Would not recommend staying there if rain was expected. It rained overnight and we had six inches of water all around our site. We weren't the only ones either. Not fun to disconnect to leave, when you're wading in that much water.
One last note was the pool. It was very nice. However smokers in the lounge chairs around the pool put a damper on enjoying it.

2nd time at a KOA Journey.
Reviewed a lot of campsites in the Starved Rock area and this one was well rated. People were nice, but when they say it is small and classified as a 'journey' KOA, they are not kidding.
Very close to road, although little traffic. Fire rings close to traffic which DID come by fast. Cow pasture across road, wind on 2nd night was NOT in our favor and the flies (presumably from the cows were miserable).
Water pressure was abysmal. Water still had a smell of suffer, even after water filter.
Found a tick in the RV, although may have come from State Park.
Most of tent sites flooded We were in RV sites). Water kept coming up from stream. Dog run basically flooded out. K9 park fence did NOT go all the way to the ground.
Purchased wood was damp and hard to burn. Prices OK in store.

First RV Trip

Great spot, clean, quite. Has a creek running thru it. Great hosts. It was our shake out trip in our new camper and this was the perfect spot.

Great Place To Stay

We have been going here for MANY years. The hosts are wonderful people and very helpful. They can also fill your propane tanka on site which is nice when you accidently forget and run it during the colder nights. The bathroom/showers are clean and we're just remodeled a few years ago. Some of the sites do flood during heavy rains but it doesn't happen that often. If we don't feel like bringing our camper we will rent one of their cabins. They have 3 that they allow dogs in and that's important to us. They do have a dog run as well.

Nice little KOA

I really liked this KOA. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and so helpful. It is very scenic, sitting at the edge of a winding, babbling brook. Very conveniently located to Starved Rock and the highway. The facilities were very nice, updated and clean washrooms.
My only tip: If it's raining make sure you request one of the upper sites. Unfortunately we came during the flooding season and woke up to our rig in a "mini-lake." I would stay here again, but I'd be more attentive to the weather.

Happy campers

We stayed here twice. Both coming and going east and west on I 80. Great campground. Very friendly and accommodating . Quiet off the freeway about a mile. Great dog park. Close to Standing Rock State park. A great meal in the lodge there. Good recommendation. Private owners on sight. Very relaxing.
