Wonderful
By user-5226683... on 2017-10-23.
Owners very helpful, friendly and on premise. Paved roads and numerous sites are paved. Sites on creek really nice. Clean facilities. Located about 1 1/2 miles off of US160 so extremely quiet. Decent wifi but because CG lies between 2 pretty steep cliffs/mts, only get 1 bar on Verizon. It's ok. Plenty of bars once able to receive better signal. Close to downtown Durango-5 miles.
Stay here again in a heartbeat .

Camped here 3 nights. Can't imagine a better site. Everything was just perfect and a very reasonable price.

Great place!
By user-5855696... on 2017-10-23.
Owners were friendly and very cooperative. They went out of their way to provide a camping spot for us when they were basically full. Very quiet. 10 minutes from train depot and downtown Durango. We will stay here again!

Beautiful Place...Snotty Owners!!!!
By user-4737182... on 2017-10-23.
Stayed 2016-08-04 to 2016-08-05
We stayed there on our way through Durango. The place was beautiful and quite; however that was very overshadowed by the rude, snotty, uppity, arrogant, money grubbing attitude of the owners. They had a fee for every stupid nitpicking thing imaginable. Example... if your visitor stays one minute over one hour you incur an hourly fee, if you are a couple of minutes late pulling out you incur a $30.00 late fee and so on. They have more rules than a prison.
Durango is not an RV friendly town to begin with... we will not stay in this town nor at this park ever again!

Charge for pets????
By user-4919227... on 2017-10-23.
Park is OK. Had a good site and enjoyed our stay, but had to pay $2.00 a day for each of my 2 cats that never go outside!! First time I ever had to do that. This is the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

Beautiful

The camp ground is beautiful, very clean and well kept. Staff great. We were evacuated due to fire and were out two nights before escorted back to drive out RV. Owners refunded the two nights to us when they really did not have to. Close to town. We were in 31 foot motor home. Thank you Lightner Creek!

Super Campground/RV Park
By user-5423214... on 2017-10-23.
We really enjoyed our stay.
We booked last minutes and were able to score a 3 night stay.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The facilities vary depending on your camping needs. Full hookup to dry tent camping and adorable cabins scattered throughout the grounds. There is a small river/stream that runs through the grounds. Water sites are super popular sites for obvious reasons.
There were 2 bathroom facilities and a laundry facility. Swimming pool, play scape and horse shoe game are near the entrance and away from the camping sites which is brilliant! No worries about hearing loud children or adults.
Great TV reception. The WIfi at our camp site was a little slow, but did work. The wifi at the office worked great. They have a few picnic tables set up outside the office area so your can easily get a bit of work/email knocked out.
The office stocks camping essentials which was a nice bonus.
There is s 12 mile hiking/mountain biking trail 1/2 miles from the camp ground entrance.
No camp fires allowed.
Approximately 5 miles from downtown Durango.
Great stay and will be back next year!

Early 2017

Enjoyed our overnight here. Well off the highway, down a country road. Steep entry way. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Sites vary from being close to one another to a bit spread out. Water & Electric Back In (not streamside) was $34 (and change)
Pet friendly. Laundry facilities were clean, just took a bit longer in the dryer.
Nice drive the next day to Mesa Verde. Need to return to check out Durango more.

Wish I lived there

We are born and raised Pacific Northwesterners currently living in Arizona. We miss the color green. So when we arrived in this gorgeous lush green park I about wet my pants with glee. There's a lively stream flowing right through the park and every camping spot has tall trees and bushes so the privacy is excellent. We were in #4 spot creekside and loved it. Pool was better than average for cleanliness as was the bath house. I can't say enough good things about this park. I have a relative in Durango so it is likely we will stay there again. Lots to do in and near the precious town of Durango.

Felt like home
By user-5974627... on 2019-08-09.
Beautiful park with lots of tree cover and spacious sites. Owners are super nice! Very dog friendly with room to walk and even a tiny dog park. The grounds are well maintained, the bathrooms a bit dated but very clean and perfectly adequate.
If I m back in Durango I would happily stay there again. I visited in August 2018

Close to Durango
By user-5599253... on 2019-08-09.
Very friendly owners. Close to Durango is the big plus.
We had a site on middle road through park. It was not paved and became muddy with snow and rain. Pull through site was only partially paved and not enough gravel surfacing so we tracked a lot of mud into RV. Site needs improvement through more gravel placement at minimum.
Bathrooms we're very clean and plenty of hot water, however they are not heated...not great with temperature in the 30s. Showers are made for someone about 5.5 feet tall. Watch your head on shower entry.
WiFi was pretty much non-existent. Somehow we had cell phone coverage in the stream valley.

Great Campground

Stayed 2019-06-23 to 2019-06-27
Stayed for 4 days exploring the area and enjoyed Lightner s as a home base. Scenic location with lots of trees and the creek. Get a Creek-side site if you can. We had a nice paved pull -through with some grass and a picnic table. No wi-fi except at the office, but I was able to use my iPhone hotspot for basic services. We only used the secondary bathroom/showers and they were perfectly adequate. We would stay here again.
