Great Place to stay
By user-6264912... on 2017-10-23.
Stayed 2017-06-26 to 2017-06-30
Im surprised by prior review. The camp is 27.00 a night but wonderful place to stay. Granted they don't have wifi...but I just walked down to the laundry and did my wifing. There is a train that comes through. Some trains are not loud and some are...but hey theres a train at a lot of higher $$$ places I have stayed. Beautiful pines. Love it here and will stay again when Im through next year!!

If you are a light sleeper, forget it...
By user-5230552... on 2017-10-23.
I don't know why not a single review mentions the train that goes by all night long blaring it's horn and shakes your camper . Besides that the grounds are pretty, bathrooms clean. The sites are in top of each other. The location us convenient just don't plan on sleeping.

Pros: Beautiful location in tall pines. Large pull through sites. Full hookups. Picnic table at each site. On Air Force Academy. Very reasonable price.
Cons: BEWARE - too close to TRAIN tracks. Every hour, all night long, loud train horn/whistle.

This is a beautiful campground. Cannot beat the price either.

Why not $15 or less
By user-5870481... on 2017-10-23.
Really. $24 night. I know, it's more on the outside in this area. But, really folks. We have found a lot more for $8 night on other bases.

Free waste dumping 24/7 if you're able to get on base.

Total chaos
By user-5337526... on 2017-10-23.
We made a reservation for one night specifically asking for a pull through because we did not want to disconnect as we were leaving the next morning. When we arrived, we reiterated our requirement. They gave us a site that was not only too short but was also on a hill and we couldn't hook up to the electricity because of the location of the box. So, they gave us another site. Which had someone in it. So they moved us again. Same story. They had no clue which sites were taken By then, we were fed up and left. Very disappointed. Also, the roads and campsites are not clearly marked, so you have to be careful maneuvering around the park. Especially in a bigger rig. This is a great place if you have a smaller rig. It is pretty but not really appropriate for anything larger than 19 feet.

Aim High!
By user-5893442... on 2018-03-14.
We stayed a month here in our 43' motor home with a Jeep in tow. We loved it! It's very peaceful and we were probably the closest to the tracks. Our only issue (that wasn't really an issue) was that our site and the site beside us had our awnings facing each other. I loved the access to cycling at the AFA, as I was there training for Pedal for Pat (1098 mile bike ride over 11 days for the Pat Summitt Foundation). You certainly can't beat the price. We are full-time and stay at a lot of military parks. This one is on our list to visit again!

Beautiful!

This is only for military or DOD personnel but what a lovely park. The RV sites are not lined up in a row so you don't stare into your neighbors windows. Lots of room! Lots of beautiful trees. It is like a wonderful state or national park but with full hook ups! The laundry facility was very nice and only $.75 for wash and $.75 for dry! We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful but dusty
By user-6026068... on 2018-07-06.
Stayed 2018-05-27 to 2018-06-03
We enjoyed this park and the Colorado Springs area was great. However, the park is so very dusty. It has gravel roads, gravel sites and grass/sand otherwise. The park is under pine trees so grass can't really grow and, of course, Colorado Springs is painfully dry. Hence all the dust. We stayed a week and when we left our 5th wheel was disgustingly dirty.
There is no wifi, but all other utilities were fine. Verizon had a good cell signal. Water pressure is very high. You need a regulator. There are train tracks very near by, but it really didn't bother us. The base is huge! and very scenic. Always look west to Pikes Peak and you won't be disappointed.
We would stay there again.

Quiet & Comfortable

Great place to stay and inexpensive. Nestled in a forest of pine trees my 40' class A made it thru the park just fine, if you tow a trailer you must drop it behind the office. It's a safe drop area with just enough room to maneuver but choose your exit to your site wisely. There are train tracks that run next to the campgrounds which I was about 100 yards from and only heard the sound of the engines and occasional horn that was some distance away, maybe other sites experienced the train differently. I was in site 96 and found it tolerable but I'm a retired railroader so I'm not bothered as some may be. Pull thru sites are big enough to park your car if you have one in tow and the hookups are perfectly placed for easy access. Hope this helps and happy camping.

Great Military Campground
By user-6463529... on 2019-08-09.
Beautiful and spacious sites. Most sites are not side by side and feels like a state park. Can be a little tricky to maneuver to ur site. Unhook towed at office. The only negative is that the train is close by. If you are eligible, stay here! We will definitely stay here again!
