Beautiful scenery, quiet camp and only $20.00 a night. The stars were magnificent last night and we woke up this morning to hot air balloons going ice head. Magical spot!

Spent one night there after arriving about 2 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Hardly anyone there and no one to check in with so asked someone staying there and was told an "orange truck would be by ". Beautiful place with plenty of shade would stay there again.

Really a nice little park shade trees and gorgeous view of huge red rocks. I stay there every time I am through there.

This place has all you need for a quick overnight. Very large sites, water and electric hook ups, and full cell phone signal that was strong enough to do some internet streaming. Didn't use the bathrooms or showers so can't speak to that. There were lots of available sites when we pulled in at 8 pm on a Monday night. No problem setting up our 26' trailer in the dark. Beautiful red rocks in the morning and a very nice hiking trail. The dump station is good, too. Never saw a park employee before we left so just put money through the office door slot. Will definitely stop here next time.

So beautiful! Why sleep in a parking lot when you can sleep in paradise? Easy to find, well maintained and you can NOT beat the view!

$20 for water & electric pull through. Dump availble in campground. Roomy sites, beautiful setting in red rock canyon. Seemed a little pricey for no dump hook up. Nice view of Chuch Rock up the canyon. Plesant setting and not far off the I-40 but far enough to neither here or see the freeway.

This is just what we were looking for!!! We will be back!!! Thank Red Rock for this beautiful setting!

Come on in find a spot you like and a very kind person will come and collect your fee. Very quite at night except for a few trains off in the distance. The trail system is fantastic and the views are awesome.

Neat state park with museum and trails. Clean bathrooms friendly park.
By user-5825565... on 2017-10-23.
Several people live here in cars. Not very well maintained. Electric and water not working at all sites. No one picks up dog poop. It's $20, it's quiet and we stayed here coming and going to Nevada. Seems to be a good place to smoke pot as both nights we were here several folks were.

This was an easy on off of I40. Sunset was beautiful. It has 50/30 AMP Service. Ranger comes to collect $20 dollars for the night. Very nice park for an overnight stay. Would stay here again. 11/15/16

Spent a few night here while traveling through the area. Nice little park, had a few that looked like long timers. At $10 a day without hook-ups, and $20 with full hook-ups the prices are decent. Not to mention the friendly staff we encountered, plus free showers with or without hook-ups. The only downside for us would be the "stray" dogs that wander the park.

Not sure review is for the park or the town. We tried to make a reservation starting at 4:30 but true to most government agencies no one would answer the phone. Simply a recording with no answering machine saying there office hours were to 5pm. At 4:50 recording said closed for the day and to call camp host. Camp host number just transfered you back to city government phone which reminder you it was after 5. Finally went on to Sky City Casino which was fine.

This is a gem for RV travelers. It is very reasonable at about $20 per night. The sites are level and have water and electric along with tables. They have excellent dump stations on cement pads. There is a post office and museum on site. There are excellent hiking trails and the views are great.

This is our fourth time staying here as we pass through Gallup. Water and electric only at site, with dump station available. Shower houses are old but clean and water is abundant. We love this park because of the hiking trails and great views. Lots of prairie dog holes around. Post office on site. No reservations. Just pull in and pick your site. You can go to the museum down the road to pay or wait for the ranger to come around and collect your $20 per night. Quiet, except for the trains that come through nearby at night. They don't bother us. Nice and cool in the evenings. Nice to sleep with windows open.

We couldn't believe it was only $20/night here. The park employee came around to collect our $20 & she was very friendly. The bathrooms were clean & upgraded. We walked to the rodeo & they even did fireworks after. The sites were shaded but all the lots are sand. We had our pick of whatever we wanted. Would stay here again if in the area.

Pull throughs with water & elec. No wifi. Central dump. Bathrooms are locked and you get the key when you pay. Ranger comes thru to collect about 7pm so if you need something before then have to call but very friendly folks. Quiet scenic spot. Close enough to the Gallup sites of El Moro, El Malpais, etc. Had a fine weekend

It's a bit of a challenge to find this place, average brown park signs and no indication of camping facilities until you pull into the park. We arrived after 5pm and just parked. The camp host came by and collected our $20. She was very cordial. It's a sandy park and looks good but a little unkept. It used to be a state park and is now owned by the City of Gallop. The location is superb. There entire park is wired for electricity and sites have water. It's a great value for $20. I'd pay extra to be able to reserve a spot. There are facilities here for conventions, rodeos, and ballooning. Hiking trails are well marked It would have been a 5star to me if you could book in advance and if it was a little more well kept. It's not bad, it looks like it's in the desert and the sand has blown. But to my taste, it could be improved on with some general maintenance beginning with clearing off the picnic table pads and making sure the fire pits aren't bent. Would I stay here again, you bet. Beautiful scenery trumps and other shortfall.

$20 water & elec., $15 water and $10 dry. No additional chg. for dump. They do take reservations, and don't even ask for a cc. Most spaces are level, or pretty close, but the fine sand is messy when wind or rain are about. RR track about a half mile away. Several trains a day, but not loud enough to be a problem.

Cool place! Don't leave without checking out the museum. You can either pay at the museum before 4pm, or the camp host will come around between 6 and 8. The restrooms are locked and you have to ask for a key when you pay.

This is a quiet, clean campground in a BEAUTIFUL setting with water and electricity for $20!! Our best "lodgings" so far!
By user-5216720... on 2017-10-23.
Good scenery, nice rates. If you come before 4pm you can check in at museum. After 4 pick a spot and a city employee will be by to pick up payment.

We arrived late and park is hard to navigate at night by we found a spot that was level. No one on site to pay at night or the next morning when we left. We could not use the rest rooms at the park as they were locked. Good thing we had our own in the RV. We were treated to the next morning to a great show by a LOT of burrowing ground hogs I think, it was cute to watch them. We would stay again but recommend you arrive before dark.

Did 1 night, May 2, 2017. Got into 30's. After all it is almost 6700 ft . elevation. Fine wind-blown sand everywhere. Goat-heads waiting for pet paws and bare feet.

Many spots tilt with front of unit higher than rear. Some shade but many sites have none. Lots of sand, take care not to get stuck. Several sites didn't have working electric. My site had electric but no water. No sewer hookups. Need to use dump station on the way out. Holiday weekend ... yeah, right! $22, no senior discount.

For $22 you can t complain too much. Sites are backwards (hence all the confusion), electric and water is on passenger side so cables/hose has to run under the rig. Not that big of a deal. A few longer term residents, with some loose/stray dogs and dogs that get left alone outside all day barking at everyone. I feel bad for them. Worked for the night.
By user-5811169... on 2019-08-09.
Stopping for an overnight. Folks were nIce. The area is beautiful!!!! This place had so much more potential. The spots are uneven some in the sand. No real plan. A bit confusing. It was not clear where to sign in. Once figured out then you go back in to hunt for something level. The bathrooms are locked and need a key. They are in need of modernization. They are not air conditioned but dimly lit. This place would be very busy if it had more level spots with pavement. It rained while there and it is a muddy mess.
