Very nice park for the money. The owners are friendly and very helpful. The location is great in Atlanta. We especially like the large lots compared to the ones @ stone Mountain park. They have fixed up many more sites and WiFi throughout the park.

Nice campground with lots to do...

We stayed 4 nights. Campground is well kept, we stayed in different spots during our stay. Some sites require a lot more leveling than others. Most spots are okay spaced and your not right on top of each other.
Playground is dated and small. Nice having free shuttle service to get around park. Everyone is very friendly.
Bathrooms where dated but clean. Laundry room was dirty and dated but worked for washing and drying clothes.
The ride to stone mountain is worth through 10.00. Was great fun for the kids. They also have train rides, water park, and more for additional cost.

Just bought a older rv and wanted to go to my first rv park to camp out. I had the best time. Everything was perfect. The people at the registration office were absolutely wonderful. I live near by and may go back every break I get.

Expensive for condition.

Most sires are not even close to level. Newer auto levelers will fail to even try due to angles. Had to try 8 different sites to get one level enough to open slides. That required an upgrade I had to pay for. Area is pretty but roads are in bad shape. Really only good for visiting Stone Mountain. Unfortunately there aren't many other options close to Atlanta.

Wonderful place to camp. Only down side are the roads and many camp sites are old and rough and uneven. $15 extra to park that's not refundable if you camp there.

We stayed 2 nights. Great fun for kids. Everyone was nice and helpful. We stayed in the purple premium site had lots of amenities, nice back in pad, full hook up, wood deck, gas grill, picnic table, close to pool and play ground. Seemed a little close to neighbors though. Showers clean but dated. Most of the buildings seemed dated but clean. Didn't use the laundry. Someone told us that part of the park was an old state park(not verified). The shuttle to the amusement park was great! We had a great time and would stay in this park again.

We bought our camper & drove four miles straight to Stone Mountain!! Literally within the hour we were set up. The site was easy to find & park in Stayed the weekend & wished we could stay the week!! I'm sure we are spoiled to the amenities because we even had a sewer hookup at our site!! We went to the little store in the campground but it was closed, the attendant saw us there & opened up for us! My husband mentioned we were having a small issue with cable & another employee came to our campsite & fixed it for us!!!! :)) Couldn't ask for a better experience for our first trip!

Cons first - Roads are terrible, kids need to be careful in campground, dropoffs and very bumpy torn up black top, i tripped 3 times myself, most pads are not level out of premium sites, shouldn't advertise wifi when 95% of park can't get it, inside the attractions the food is worse then movie theater prices, $6.50 for a hot dog really? $4.00 for a soft pretzel, $8.00 for funnel cake, eat at your camper first. The pros, great park for kids in the attractions side, skylift and train are fun, the 4d movie was great only 10 minutes long, all the staff was really best we've met, very friendly. All in all we've enjoyed it so far but think it's really over priced in the campground for non premium sites and probably won't return for years until they pave these roads and fix the sites a little bit. Would rate 2.5 stars if I could and this is just my honest opinion of the place when it comes to overall care, maintenance, safety and value for what you get.

The is a large park and campground with lots to do. We stayed 1 night while traveling. Roads are good but some areas are tight. Sites are ok many not level with ruts. Cable and internet ok. Power and water were good. Could not give a 5 star because of sites, but would like to return to explore the park and area. Stayed in 5th wheel

Our sites had a great view of the lighted Christmas tree atop the mountain. Plenty to do if you choose to not do the Adventure Park. We could have just hiked and explored the park. Clean restrooms and very friendly front desk staff.

Great park and friendly office staff. We stayed at site 229; very good for big rigs with FHU including cable, private deck, and gas grill. Everything worked great. Also, many events at Stone Mtn for enjoyment. We'll definitely be returning...

OK pay extra for cable and internet is slow. But showers are hot and free, sites are level, its quite, wooded, and best of all the view is spectacular. We paid $30 a nite for site 416 (water and 30amp) and a view right out of 'On golden pond'. You will have to pay an additional $15 just to get in to the park though.

Great park, terrible campsite

While the park itself is full of activities and attractions the campsite itself is not even close to being level and quite a chore to park on and set up. Some campers have one side of camper wheels off the ground. To even advertise that they have wifi is a joke. Too slow to load any page. The park is clean as well as the bathhouse. But no road or lot maintenance has been done in years.

Long weekend

Arrived at Campground on Thursday, April 13. There were three campers in our party. I had reservations for Orange, lots 30, 31, & 32 they were great locations, great view, beautiful place to take the kids. Visited the park three times, Campground has a two day pass for price of one. Sky ride to top of mountain a much. Stayed for 4 days, Sunday Worship Service on Sunday, very nice touch. Would give more Stars if I could.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The kids enjoyed the playground and the park was really nice. Plenty of space with nice wood patio for each site, clean bathrooms. The park is a good piece from the campgrounds so we disconnected every day to go. We had a great time.

First trip here. Loved the park. Clean, quiet. FHU. Extremely nice staff at both the RV park and the Christmas park. Had Shuttle from camp to Stone mountain.
For Friday and Saturday only. Suggest you use the Shuttle if you want to see lights at night. Parking lot fills up quickly. Saturday we had a plan. Drive car to Snow Village in morning. Take shuttle back to camp. Ride shuttle back to Snow Mountain that afternoon. Worked. Both places have Shuttle time schedules.
Lights are beautiful. Where we were camped, you could see the White Light Christmas tree at night on the mountain.. Beautiful! There is a one Time $15.00 entrance fee for the park. Camp excepts Passport America (we used) and SAMs Club. Actually the staff told us SAMs Club was better for longer stays.
Back to camp sites. They are narrow with some drop offs. They are built up with cross ties as boundaries. We were on lane M, #325. Would still go back. Overall like the park and it is huge, so maybe other parts are more level.
Did like the fact that they offered a 2 day pass for the price of one to the Park. Not the camping park. Kinda confusing.

Sites need some work....most are not level....careful with kids on bike....steep hills throughout camping area....lots of dropoffs near camping sites.......i dont know how this place is ranked #1 on some sites....i dont get it......

Pick the premium!

The Premium sites (purple and orange) are the ones who will want for a big rig. They are a biy pricey ($55 and $58) buy nice pads, roads, and ammenities. The purple sites are closer to the pool, have a wood deck with gas grill and picnic tables. The orange sites are closer to
the lake and have charcoal grill and picnic tables. We really enjoyed our atay here!

The high rating is mostly for the park as an overall experience. Nice interior roads with ample law enforcement to keep the speed to 25mph which makes bike rides very comfortable. The fall colors were amazing! Loved the golf course which was in great shape, challenging, and scenic! Beautiful walk to the top of Stone Mountain with awesome views! The RV facilities were decent. We did not opt for the premium sites, so, backing in and leveling was a little challenging for the larger RV. The campground roads are narrow and rough due to tree growth and roots. The bathrooms and showers were older but functional. Would definitely stay here again.

This will be my very 1st negative review I have ever written. I have pictures to backup all my statements and I will download them. The campsites are horrible uneven ,broken up, and have severe dips. They have very little grass. My 1st spot I reserved was to 289, when it rained there was a dip Next to the spot and when you open the door there is about a 15' drop. I left that spot and moved to the only available spots where in the 400 where there is no sewer, Wi-Fi, OK however it was better than falling and breaking my leg. The 400 spots are full of potholes and uneven cracks in the asphalt and have no sewers but I made the best of what I got. The transportation to the amusements at Stone Mountain are wonderful,I must give credit where credit is due, the Duck tour was a lot of fun. The young man that drove by several times to pick up trash was very professional, pleasant and helpful . I will not be recommending this campground to anyone and I will not be back. With the money they charge, they need to put it back into fixing the campgrounds.

The park itself is very nice. The staff is helpful. Out site is nice and level with a great view of the lake but not all sites are as level as ours. As others have said it is time to repair the roads on the loops but that is the only fault I can find. All in all I will continue to come to this park with my family.

Great place

We visited for a weekend. To enter we paid $20 fee to park for the entire stay. The registration process was fine. The people were super polite. The signage around campground was helpful. Our site was level. Many of the sites were not level...it is a mountain campground. There was a nice pool, activities and it was only 40 minutes to Sun Trust ball park. It was nice and quiet. The lake was beutiful. Would stay again.

Never again

$20 just to enter. When you check in you get your car pass but you've already paid. We stayed in the "cheap seats" in loop M and it was $40/night. Loop is one way but the hill was so steep in, the truck bed was going to hit the fifth wheel. Went in the out and turned around in parking and backed a looong way to our site. Site was broken asphalt, water and electric. Getting out was hairy because cars were parked along the road and lots of trees on edge of road. We fulltime and stay lots of places and this one was waay overpriced for what it is.
We have a 3500 ram dually and 33ft fifth wheel.

Nice but needing upgrades!

Stayed here for one night while passing though. Very pretty setting, even for December. I think the price is too expensive for the conditions. The roads are really deteriorating, the bath house needs a Reno very bad, Tho it seemed to be clean. Just picture rusty divider walls and some broken tiles from the 1970 s. The laundry area did have new washers and dryers. The $20 pay to park is a crock, and simply adds $20 to the cost. So for a lakefront space with a nice view you are looking at $53 for the slip and $20 to get inside the park = $73 (December). Would we return? Sure! But I would love to see some improvements and actual upgrades. 40 diesel pusher fits around the park but a lot of spaces look short!

Stone Mountain Campground is a nice campground. Very family friendly, lots of kids running, riding bikes, having a great time. Large playground, swimming pool, volley ball court, open field for football. Lots to do in area. Site are close together, most are shaded, all sites are gravel, and the gravel needs work. Premium sites have gas grills, fire pit, tables and a deck. All others have table and fire pits. Definitely would stay here again.

We have been coming to Stone Mountain Campground since 2009. Over the years we have seen the park fall into a sad state. The roads are narrow and full of pot holes. The picnic tables have rotten wood on both the tops and the seats.
This is probably the last time we will visit this park.
