Very Nice Park!

This is a beautiful park very close to Monterey. The road into the park is steep and narrow, thus the limit on trailer length is 21 feet. The sites are wide surrounded by lots of trees and shrubs, but they aren't always level. The restroom near our site had two showers. No hook ups, but definitely a great place to explore the beautiful Monterey area.

Good place to tent camp
By user-5827346... on 2017-10-23.
The only bad was the bathrooms. Shot distance to down town Monterey.
Small RV's only
Quite clean camp ground I would stay here again.

Great location!
By user-5228987... on 2017-10-23.
Cheap RV camping compared to most other campgrounds in this area. Great location to do all the touristy things too. No complaints and would stay here again. Beware if your RV is too long as your site options might be limited. Our 23' was no problem.

Quiet and simple

First come, first served. This tent and RVsite is nice for very basic camping. Playground for children. Free showers and restrooms. A bit disturbing: many random people (some seemed homeless) came in and took showers or used the bathrooms.

Quiet getaway park
By user-5783870... on 2017-10-23.
Easy access to everything. Entry up steep hill but we were RV towing vehicle for 35' length and had no problem. Sites nice some fully shaded, clean, quiet, priced right! Park where dogs and children can play and nice hikes from park. Showers and dump Temps here mild so no need for hook ups.

Depends on your idea of camping.
By user-5808992... on 2017-10-23.
You will either love or hate this place depending on your idea of camping. That being said, you're not going to get a place to stay in the area that will beat $30 a night.
If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay that's very close to all of the "touristy" places in the bay, this campground is awesome. It's very close to grocery stores, the aquarium, beaches, etc.
If you like being out in nature and relaxing in your camp chair all day, this probably isn't the place for you. A majority of the spaces are not at all private; most are simply divided by a log laying on the ground. It's located in a city park and very much feels like camping in a city park. When we were there we had to listen to a generator for a bouncy house most of the day because someone was having a birthday party (again, you're camping in a city park so it's to be expected).
Pros - The bathrooms were clean and the showers were free. There was a dump station for use as well. We were lucky enough to get a spot near the playground which was really convenient for us. Again, $30 a night is very cheap for this area.
Cons (none of this was a big deal for us but I could see how it could bother some people).
- As I said above, most spots are not private at all. I'm sitting in my trailer now and I can count 12 tents/trailers that I can see clearly. Most are separated only by logs on the ground.
- There were tons of random people coming in and out all day to use the free showers that are supposed to be for campers only. It was slightly annoying since there are only 2 shower stalls in the bathroom and one was out of order.
- Not all of the sites are level.
- There were cars pulling into the park (not necessarily the campground) at all hours of the night and early morning.
- Most campers let their dogs run around without leashes and they were going into other people's campsites.
- No fires when we were there (during fire season/summer)
- There were some squatters that pitched their tent about 10 feet from our neighbor's trailer on our first night. On our second night, there was a row of 4 people parked just off the road with their tents pitched in some grass. I've heard that that's common here since the rules aren't enforced.
- Like I stated above; during our stay, the rules were not enforced AT ALL. We didn't see anyone affiliated with the park during our three days here.

Nice place
By user-5811842... on 2017-10-23.
Nice place in the hills and only a few miles to town. We paid 30 $. Ranger was so nice to search a side for our 30ft RV. Each side with fire pit and table. Bring something for leveling.

Die Lage des Parks ist sehr schön an einem ruhigen Park in der Nähe der Stadt. Allerdings sind die Plätze teils etwas uneben und es gibt wenige duschen (diese sind aber okay). Insgesamt empfehlenswert.

This is not bad for the money. Very close to city and wharf. The showers and baths were filthy from the tenters.
Lots of grass in the city park across the way. Dump and water available. Safe. Limited size rigs.

First come first served campsite with self registration (so make sure you arrive with the correct cash!)
Plenty of spots available when we arrived. Hot (warm) showers available in the restrooms - no charge and reasonably clean. Also had a dish washing sink with lots of hot water. Clean campsite and had a quiet, undisturbed night.

We stayed there for one night, it s a nice place. The campgrounds are in the forest, everyone is a little separated from the others.
The showers and toilets are the only thing that is not that good, a little dirty and old. The door from the shower didn t really close.

Schöner Platz für 30 $/ Nacht
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
