Nice KOA

This is a very nice, clean KOA. Our long, 50 amp, FHU, pull-thru site was gravel, level, and shaded. We only stayed overnight, but would've liked to stay longer. We were on the upper level, and there was a narrow, winding road to get there, but it was no problem pulling the toad. We had a lovely view out our front window. Plenty of space between sites to sit outside. Plenty of walking space around the pond. The WiFi was intermittent, and some cable channels weren't good. Good Verizon cell service. We would definitely stay here again. We stayed in a motorhome.

Excellent Park in Lovely Setting
By user-4960273... on 2017-10-23.

I am very leery of passing out 5 stars as many RV parks are significantly deficient in some manner. This center is a jewel among RV parks. The area is away from freeways and highways in amongst VA farmland and quite lovely. Staff were friendly and very well organized. Check-in took only a few moments as the staff had a packet ready for us before we arrived. The pull-thru lots were level and, though close, not stacked like cordwood as with many parks. If any seasonal residents were present it was not at all obvious. Virtually any facility an RVer wants or needs is available and the place is very clean and well maintained in a mostly natural environment. We stayed for one night in one of the more expensive pull-thrus for only $45 despite being in season. The park was very lightly populated except the pull thru section. The only issue was that the cable did not work for us or any of our neighbors. (However, if cable is a necessity to an RVer they are very likely to be disappointed anywhere they travel.). One word of caution, the pull-thru section is at the entrance to the park and the nearest facilities are a modest walk away in the central part of the Park. All-in-all, I would recommend this park highly to all comers.

A Well Maintained KOA
By user-5814072... on 2017-10-23.
Stayed 2016-06-23 to 2016-06-24
About 150 sites, W/E/S, Paid $45, nice lake (I got some nibbles but did not catch any fish), well maintained, all of the typical KOA amenities, nice staff. My only issues were that the lower cable channels were fuzzy and the lakeside sites were a bit tight. Other than these 2 issues I had a nice stay and will probably return some day

Nice KOA
By user-5289026... on 2017-10-23.
Friendly staff and clean facilities. Cable and decent wifi. Sites level but some may require uphill dumping. Not good for bad back and a full hookup charge. Ended up having to use dump station. Check site before detaching if paying for full hookup. Lots of activities for kids, fishing, pool, etc. Would stay here again. Staunton and surrounding area are very nice.

Pretty Woods Setting
By user-5840872... on 2017-10-23.
We have stayed here many times throughout the years and have always enjoyed its tranquil woodsy setting. We always stay on one of the lakefront sites to enjoy the activity on the lake and usually in the fall during leaf color. This park is our "go to" when in the area. One year we stayed on site #33 with the "deck" and we heard a lot of noise in the tree next to it and there was a huge flock of gorgeous Cedar Waxwings.

Nice Park!

Beautiful park shows pride of ownership. Very clean park, sites are well spaced with great views as our site was on top of the hill. Laundry and bathroom facilities were very clean. WiFi was very good. Only negative was the interior road made for dusty cars. A bit pricey, but, we would stay here again.

Still in bed writing this....enjoyed a peaceful quiet night in a beautiful park before another 300 miles south today. We are in a 5th wheel and were given a pull through site with electric and water. We are still winterized so we didn’t use the water and used the campground facilities which are so very clean. The little walk to the bathrooms from our RV gave us a chance to exercise a bit and enjoy this beautiful spot. Easy off the highway....we unhooked and had a terrific dinner in a cool place downtown Staunton called The Mill which was a nice treat. With the KOA Card the price was reasonable in the low $30’s plus earning points toward free sites.

Headed South

One of our favorite stops to and from Florida or just a vacation. Clean, safe, and excellent staff. Recently changed to a Good Sam's from a KOA. Always upgrading and improving.

I was checking my KOA account and planning our next trip to North Carolina I noticed that as of February 1st 2018 this Campground is no longer associated with KOA.

Is a nice campground but it just happened to be raining while we were there. The road through the campground is a little tight and the rain flooded one of the roads. We were able to get one of their pull thru sites in their new section. Might go back and stay again when the weather is more favorable.

Beautiful park with level gravel sites. Our site backed up to a large fishing pond. Super clean! Staff was friendly, but the local ducks were a bit demanding. Decent free wifi. We managed to pick a rainy weekend, but will be back hopefully when it's sunnier.

Stopped on my way to NY from NC. Nice quiet park with full hookups. Site was on the small side and a tad un-level but it worked for the night. Will stop again when traveling to NY.

Pretty campground with some issues
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
The park is in a pretty area out in the country. Check-in was quick and friendly. Interior roads and sites are gravel and your vehicles will get dirty. Plus, it s very dusty from most people driving way too fast. This park has the strangest traffic pattern to move around the campground. We were assigned a site up near the front entrance but to get to it you have to weave around the park first. Same thing when you leave. It is a long distance on narrow roads to get to the sites up on the hill. The dump station is awkwardly placed. A large RV (like ours) would need to jockey around to get in position and then back up to avoid going down a one-way street. Probably explains why they have a honey wagon. Luckily, we didn t need to use the bathrooms but if you did and are parked in the front section, it is a long walk. Our site was a long but narrow pull thru. The sites are very close together. In fact, too close together for the fire pits. Our neighbor s pit was right under our bedroom window. Directv was only able to pick up a handful of channels due to trees. However, the cable offered the best picture quality we ve ever had in 7 years of travel although there are not a lot of channels . The WII FI worked pretty well until the park filled up then it was useless. Verizon was 4g 3 bars so we were able to use our hot spots. Being in the front section, we were close to the road but it quieted down at night. You can hear traffic from I-81 off in the distance. It is definitely a place for the weekend warriors! Not sure if we would return or not. Very pricey for just having water and electric and then having to pay for the honey wagon.
